Our Orchestra and Wind Ensemble had a once in a lifetime journey performing in France!  On our tour, they performed in Paris and Chartres, tour the most historic sights of Paris and Normandy, immersed themselves in the beautiful culture of the region, met new people from all over the world and become global ambassadors through music.

Tour highlights:

- We started by running into Mrs.Chemaly (MV Chemistry teacher) at SFO.

- Walked through local neighborhoods, and dined off the beaten path

- Took a Masterclass at the American Cathedral in Paris, before visiting the Louvre museum

- Performed at the church of La Madeleine (modeled after the Parthenon) which has amazing acoustics; visited the d’Orsay museum

- Next day we departed for Giverny and visited Monet’s garden; in the afternoon we trekked up the Eiffel Tower (+600 steps), and then trekked up the Arc de Triumph’s +300 steps in the evening (see celebratory photo of us at the top of the tower!)

- Next day we travelled to Chateau de Versailles, and on to Chartres

- In the Loire Valley countryside we visited Chateau Chambord (which Disneyland castle is based off of) and Chateau d’Amboise (where DaVinci is laid to rest and you can see his double helix staircase).

- Back in Paris the final concert was at the church of Sainte Marie des Bagtinolles with a discerning audience that also included a conductor for the Paris Conservatory, who commented on how diligent our students were; In the afternoon we had free time in the Latin Quarter starting from the Shakespeare and Co. Bookstore and ending with a Seine River cruise.

- Rode the local commuter train in the morning to browse an artistic neighborhood prior to departing
