




WELCOME MVHS MUSICIANS & COLOR GUARD!
Welcome to Instrumental Music (IM) programs at Monte Vista High School. Our award-winning classes include Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, two Jazz Bands, Marching Band and Color Guard. IM programs are under the direction of Ed Cloyd. Monte Vista Keynoters is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 parent booster group that provides the funds and volunteers required to operate the program.

*We’ll need parent volunteers for our students to participate in these events. SRVUSD requires all parents to register in order for you to volunteer at MVHS. If you have not done so, please make sure to read Volunteer Requirements HERE and register to be a volunteer HERE.

European Music Tour
Orchestra and Wind Ensemble Students
Our Orchestra and Wind Ensemble had a once in a lifetime journey performing in France! On our tour, they performed in Paris and Chartres, tour the most historic sights of Paris and Normandy, immersed themselves in the beautiful culture of the region, met new people from all over the world and become global ambassadors through music.

MVHS Instrumental Music Student led summer camp "Camp Allegro" was a success
Our students volunteers led one week summer music camp;
they had a great week with many activities including soccer/
ultimate frisbee tournament, water balloon fight and , of course,
making music together with rising 6-9 grade campers in town!!

Instrumental Music Class Donations
2025-2026
Monte Vista High School’s Instrumental Music programs are almost entirely funded by class donations and efforts of the Monte Vista Keynoters. Monte Vista Keynoters is a parent-led, nonprofit organization making quality Instrumental Music education possible through your tax deductible donations, fundraising, and community support. With your help, MVHS can offer a vibrant music classes and award-winning ensembles that teach musicianship, responsibility, time management, self-discipline, and the value of teamwork; while providing students the opportunity to develop meaningful connections to their school and each other.

How your donations impact
our student musicians?
Last year, through your generous donations, Keynoters was able to fund 14 coach buses and 5 rental trucks to transport musicians & instruments to competitions, entrance fees to competitions and events, instruments (new, rentals, repairs), sheet music and supplies, instruction from professional musicians, uniform maintenance and Orchestra dress rentals and so much more!
With your support this year, we can provide another year of wonderful opportunities to include:

Suggested Class Membership Donations
Each year, Keynoters and our music teachers carefully determine class donation amounts based on costs to run each specific program.
Orchestra - $400
Chamber Orchestra - $475
Jazz B - $475
Jazz A - $575
Symphonic Band - $100
Wind Ensemble - $375
Marching Band/Color Guard - $875
Multi-Ensemble Discount: If your student is in more than one Instrumental Music class, you may take advantage of a $100 discount.

Whether your student has been studying music for years or they are picking up an instrument for the first time, your child is welcome at Monte Vista's Instrumental Music Programs. And so are YOU, parents and guardians!
